Athletes compete in Port Colborne for the National Para Hockey Championships
The 2024 National Para Hockey tournament is being played at Port Colborne’s Vale Health and Wellness Centre this weekend.
The trophy presented to the champion of Sunday’s championship game is known as the Todd Nicholson Trophy.
Five-time Paralympian and former Team Canada player Todd Nicholson says he’s honoured.
“It means a lot, couple years ago I was approached and asked if I would be willing to put my name on the cup as one of the athletes that excelled in this sport many years ago, it’s an honour for the cup to be named after you,” said Nicholson.
Seven provincial teams including host Ontario and defending champion Quebec are competing for the big prize.
Tim Dool, the Chair of the National Para Hockey Championships, expressed his admiration for the athletes, saying, “When I look out there and see some of these athletes and what they have had to overcome with disabilities, I see them as some of the best athletes in the world.”
The head coach of Team Ontario, Adam Stoppa, has been managing the team for a year now.
“This team is an amazing team. We are a young team with a lot of new players their growth and development have been phenomenal this year. I’m very proud of this team where they are right now and where we are going to be by the end of tomorrow,” says Stoppa.
The final games will be played on Sunday at 9 and 11:30 in the morning.
Organizers are encouraging people to come out and watch the tournament free of charge.

Dangerous, dangerous work. Hope she is ok.
Why is the female officer in the driver side breach position? The stronger officers should be in that role to have a chance to remove the suspect more quickly before he can put more people at risk. Too many videos of women in uniform doing their best, but that wasn't sufficient. As a general rule, I would prefer they not be out on patrol for their sake and the sake of those they hope to protect. Our grandparents generation they that, and had a better as a society for it. We've gone off the rails America...
Something as basic as this should have been discussed before the project started!
He’s alive because he knows the government crucifies officers for using their guns.
Lol
Good luck beating CNs team of lawyers lmfao
I love Loblaws.
Lol lol 😆 🤣 OK what about finding the big pink trailer stolen cause that trailer also makes money for charity k but hey let's make a little ice cram come more important
Arrest and remove. Deport if necessary. This nonsense needs to stop!
Liberals and NDP are evil for brainwashing these people into thinking the grocery stores caused these high prices. All to continue taxing us into oblivion.
Take their licenses away 🤣
👋🏻🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🏻
Just because she is a so called hijabi doesn’t entitle her to special treatment.
People are living in tents, hungry and dying on the streets of drug overdoses and this is the order of the day ? Jesus help us !
Buy local! F Loblaws!
They just jacked everything up. Now their sale prices look like it's a sale. Fml 😂

Free Palestine from Hamas
Ok and what of the Israeli settler violence against Palestinians in the west bank. There is no Hamas in west bank according to Israel.
Someone comes to my car door, opens it and tries to rip me out... time to go for a SKY RIDE LADY
What a POS! Hope the officers are ok. They do not get paid nearly enough to deal with this
Welcome to Canada, the latest fascist state.
Cadillac who??? I've never heard of him.
“ Welcome to the freedom town “ next time you proudly mention Canada as a free country where dissent is tolerated watch this video as a reminder. Just like China and North Korea Western “democracies “ punishes those who will challenge the government policies and practices.
In the west you are free as long as you parrot the government line otherwise they will treat you just like North Korea.
It's about time. That Coliseum is an eyesore.
The campus protesters need to stay on campus and have nothing to do at all with off-campus activities.
free camp site?
Thank the liberals and ndp for the high prices.
BLM
All word salad as usual ! O' Canada........
In Alberta I go to COMMUNITY NATURAL FOODS 90% of the time ( Even Nutters is decent some times too) and the days you catch discounts you can tell it's locally owned and real people because its great. If I was in Victoria BC I would likely still just go to LIFESTYLES market.... and Ontario or of course everywhere but Ontario has more it seems... find local markets ALL SUMMER as well as if you are near a Natures Emporium go there!
Protest against Hamas who cost of the Gaza destruction

The audacity of the defiance and disrespect. Never forget this because they will only get more bold. They do not deserve to be a part of our culture yet because they do not respect any of it.
Blocking roadways. And, now…many states are arresting and charging people with a federal offense. It seems that most states still have laws on their books during the KKK days. You cannot conceal your face and identity with the intent to break any law..no matter how minor that law may seem!
Soon they will all be Sarah Jama. Representatives will be representation of a majority of the population.
Aww poor people with money. Try living in Hamilton LOL
How about the Liberals sign a code of conduct.
This is just a pathetic crumb thrown to Canadians in an attempt to get a few of their boycotting customers back. Loblaws is still going after record profits and not caring if people are priced out of the food market. I for one won't be falling for it... Of course, it won't help to decrease food costs, and they even have the nerve to put stipulations on signing the agreement ("if " Walmart agrees to sign) Loblaws has proven (several times now) that they are the epitome of greed and CAN'T be trusted.
